MANU NATIONAL PARK
Covers nearly four million acres of virgin tropical rain forest, nestled on the slopes of the southern Andes. It harbors more species of flora and fauna than any other nature reserve in the world: estimates of over 15,000 plants, 1,000 birds and 200 mammals within the park boundaries.

LAKE TITICACA
Sitting at 12,600 feet above sea level, Lake Titicaca lies at the heart of the Andean mountain range and shares its waters with neighboring Bolivia. Legend has it that the spiritual founders Manco Capac and his sister-consort Mama Occlo rose out of the waters of the lake to found Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire.

COLCA CANYON
The breathtaking Colca Canyon, a 5 hour drive into the Andes from the lovely colonial city of Arequipa, is the world's deepest canyon (11,000 feet) twice as deep as the Grand Ganyon in Colorado.

CHAN CHAN
Covers some 12 square miles and is the most extensive adobe ruin in the world. Once capital of the Chimu Kingdom, Chan Chan is located outside the northern coastal city of Trujillo and is made up of 10 self-contained "neighborhoods".

THE HUASCARAN
The Huascaran, at an altitude of 22,334 feet, crowns the Cordillera Blanca range above the Callejon de Huaylas Valley. It is the highest peak in Peru and the tallest mountain at tropical altitudes in the world.

AMAZON RIVER
The Amazon River flows 4,050 miles from its source in the Peruvian Andes to the Atlantic Ocean. Exceeded in length by the Nile, the Amazon River is by far the largest in terms of volume.

CASA ALIAGA
Located across from the Presidential Palace in colonial Lima, the 66-room Casa Aliaga was built in 1535 by Don Jeronimo de Aliaga, a member of Pizarro's conquering forces. Seventeen generations later, Casa Aliaga is still inhabited by the Aliaga family, whose heirlooms include the beautiful original furniture.
